A little iron knowledge...
Iron is an essential component of every cell in the body and is required for both energy production and oxygen transport.
- In industrialized countries, around 10 to 25 percent of women of childbearing age are affected by iron deficiency.
- Pregnant women, growing children, patients before and after operations, athletes, vegetarians and senior citizens are also at risk.
Iron is an important component of every cell in the body, ...
...but cannot be produced by the body itself.
Iron is needed for both energy production and oxygen transport. Since our body loses an average of 1 - 2 mg per day, this must be supplied with food every day. However, dietary iron only covers normal requirements.
If iron consumption is increased, especially during pregnancy, with heavy menstrual bleeding, in athletes or before or after operations, then iron deficiency occurs.
Most often, the imbalance between iron requirement and iron supply is due to a source of bleeding, such as monthly menstrual bleeding or obscure changes in the gastrointestinal tract. Disorders such as celiac disease or low-iron diets (vegetarians, vegans) can also lead to a reduction in iron absorption.
If vitality and joy of life are missing...
...this is often due to iron deficiency.
The symptoms of iron deficiency, as they are initially inconspicuous and do not have a major impact, gradually become noticeable and are often underestimated. The complaints can be diverse because iron is found in every cell.

Our practice specializes in the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency with iron infusions. This is necessary if, due to the severity of the disease or intolerance no sufficient improvement can be achieved with oral medication.
The infusions are well tolerated and can resolve the deficiency effectively, thereby increasing the patient's quality of life.
