Transabdominal bowel sonography
Sonography is used for real-time visualization of practically all abdominal organs (liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, urogenital organs and the large blood vessels of the abdominal cavity).
The transabdominal bowel sonography (stomach, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, appendix with appendix and entire colon) is a very special examination method that is used when Intestinal inflammation, intestinal motility disorders or Irritable bowel syndrome is suspected. Our rooms are equipped with modern high-resolution devices (GE Logic P5).
As no X-rays are used, the examination has no side effects and is ideal for monitoring the course of treatment in IBD. In particular, intestinal wall thickening (in the context of inflammation) and movement disorders (e.g. in the case of constrictions) can be imaged precisely and easily. In patients with irritable bowel syndrome, bowel sonography is used to rule out inflammatory or movement disorders (e.g. post-operative or post-inflammatory adhesions). SIBO can also be visualized in sonography on the basis of gas production in the intestine.
In contrast to colonoscopies, transabdominal bowel sonography requires no preparation, is completely painless and has no side effects and is therefore the ideal method for detecting digestive diseases in real time and assessing their progression.
